Over the issue of trade protocols governing bananas from the ACP group of countries, the European Parliament has been at loggerheads with the European Commission which carries out legislation. Estelle Drew throws some light on this murky business. The last article on the long-running trade dispute over bananas between the EU and the USA showed how the European Parliament was opposed to the Commission's proposal to resolve the conflict. |
