Abstract: | An analysis of the rates offered by the top international hotel chains via five major on-line distribution channels and their telephone-based central reservation service found a mixed picture of pricing schemes. To a large extent, the rates offered through various electronic channels (e.g., Expedia, Travelocity, CRSs) were roughly equivalent. Price differences between company web sites and third-party channels were greatest for upscale chains; budget and economy chains offered relatively consistent prices. Ironically, the CRS often listed the highest price. were roughly equivalent. |
