Abstract: | More and more senior executives are trying to turn their employees into entrepreneurs - people who earn a direct return on the value they help create, often in exchange for putting their pay at risk. Changes that are coming into play include characteristics as decision-making responsibility, importance to the organization, and number of subordinates. The most important trend has been the loosening relationship between job assignment and pay level. The shift toward contribution-based pay makes sense on grounds of equity, cost, productivity and enterprise. The ways to manage that shift effectively is also discussed. |
