| Abstract: | Industrial countries: Upswing continues, inflation remains low. The cyclical situation in industrial countries has improved in 1996. Western Europe has overcome the weakness of 1995; real GDP increased at an annual rate of 2 percent during the summer 1996. Production in Japan was quite erratic. The US economy grew although the expansion remained moderate. Real GDP for industrial countries as a whole is likely to increase by 2.5 percent in 1996. The development on labour markets remained largely unchanged. Inflation remained moderate, on average level. |
