| Abstract: | Whether EMU is success or not will depend on the harmonious formulation of macroeconomics policy, ability in keeping inflationary pressures under control and opening product markets, and above all, on reform of labor markets. Limitations on job protection is needed, which do not mean hire-and-fire mentality, and flexibility of wages, which is not the same as low wages. These key conditions should be supplemented by other measures in cooperation with business. The 35-hour week should not be a cause for business despair but the gap between business and government is wide. |
