Abstract: | The determinants of bargaining structures are not yet well known although the debates about the effects of collective bargaining centralization on organizational performance are on progress. Especially the micro-lever determinants are not systematically taken into consideration in the recent literature. The author introduces a multi-disciplinary framework for analyzing collective bargaining centralization - its advantages and disadvantages - from the employers perspective. The main focus of the analysis is on the comparison between single-employer and multi-employer collective bargaining. The framework can be used for different forms of empirical research, and also for the evaluation of the costs and benefits of different degrees of collective bargaining. |
