| Abstract: | In a system of flexible exchange rates there is a potential conflict between domestic price stability and exchange rate realignement. The choice of an intermediate target and appropriate timing may alleviate this conflict. Swiss National Bank was quite successful in pursueing a monetary policy neutral towards the exchange rate. |
