Abstract:The evidence of the study suggests that authorities have the ability to influence the relative inflow of private capital. Capital controls are found to divert capital flows away from those forms that are heavily taxed to those that are not controlled as private international capital financiers circumvent controls when capital markets offer viable substitutes.
