| Abstract: | The focus of this paper is on structural adjustment programmes and dependence for success on policies and institutional characteristics of Sub-Saharan African countries concerned. The article first discusses economic growth and its determinants in general and then reviews the process of international economic integration and analyses the political economy of adjustment in Africa. Finally, it outlines the prerequisities for successful integration into the world market. |
