Abstract:This paper examines the critical incident technique, its general application and specific use in the hospitality industry. To illustrate the data gathering and classification methodlogies, a study of interviews with 118 United Kingdom lodge customers is used. It was found that critical incident technique lends itself particularly well to research in individual operational units or groups of units with similar characteristics.
