Abstract:Commonly consumers gather information from expert sources in order to evaluate and make decisions. In situations where information is perceived as insufficient, the reliance on knowledgeable sources is very efficient way to reduce uncertainty. Consumers do not always take for granted what experts say about services, products and so on. The paper proposes that moviegoers engage in some sort of causal analysis when they are faced with an expert's opinion and that their reactions to this opinion depend on the outcomes of this causal analysis.
