Abstract:This paper presents a comprehensive methodology (here as: m.) for developing constructs in Management Information Systems (MIS) research. The m. is presented as a research guide progressing through 3 stages: 1. domain definition, 2. instrument construction, and 3. evaluation of measurement properties. Six key measurement properties are addressed: content validity (as: val.), factorial val., reliability, convergent val., discriminant val., and nomological val. An assessment of the proposed m. indicates that its adoption in MIS research would greatly improve the rigour of construct development projects. This is evidenced by the wide range of quality publications.
