Abstract: | This article provides a brief review of the legal constraints on employment discipline in Canada, particularly English-speaking Canada. The author presents rights and obligations with respect to dismissal and other forms of discipline, representation and redress. He concludes that the regulation of employment discipline in the private sector reflects the strengths and weaknesses of the industrial relations system generally: it works reasonably well in union-organized workplaces but not in the unorganized context. |
