| Abstract: | Setting social security firmly in its global context, the author addresses certain problems that illustrate the state of flux currently affecting it: the social problems peculiar to transition economies, the critical reviews of social security currently under way in industrialized countries, the implications of ageing populations and of changing employment patterns. The article reviews issues raised by privatization and the responsibilities of the state and individual. |
