Abstract: | The author considers the multiplicity of social functions some unions now perform in industrial life, notably in tripartite collaboration on the formulation and implementation of economic, industrial and social policies , and in negotiations at plant level. In illustration, he describes the important social adaptive role Japanese unions have acquired through their contribution to the accommodation of interests at enterprise, industry, sectoral, regional and national levels. |
