Abstract:Treasury management as a profession transcends the boundary of for-profit publicly held corporations. Companies need positive cash flow to stay in business, but they do not all do capital budgeting. Companies need managers to project cash flows for purposes of making short-term investment and borrowing decisions, but all firms do not declare dividends. Liquidity management is observed to be the most important financial management job responsibility. Research conducted by TMA indicates that entry-level job responsibilities in treasury managment focus on liquidity management. They perform responsibilities in cash management, short-term investing, and short-term borowing. The role of the treasurer is a broad, strategic one in the organizational structure.
