Abstract:This is the first in a series of six reports reviewing the market for quick frozen food (QFF) and similar products. The term QFF is a "voluntary reserved description", used to define food which has undergone the quick-freezing process , and which is labelled for the purpose of sale to indicate that it has undergone that process. Most major brands and some own-labels are labelled as QFF, while some minor brands and own-labels are not, although the products are not different in any meaningful way. The first report analyses the trends in the overall market since 1990, while the subsequent reports will review the following individual market sectors: frozen vegetables and potato products; frozen fish and fish products; frozen convenience meat, poultry and vegetable products and savoury bakery products; frozen ready meals and pizzas.
