Abstract:The paper focuses on the Montreal Taxonomy (MT), which was proposed in the first special issue by Christof Weinhardt and Michael Strobel. The aim of this paper is to evaluate whether the MT is a good way of classifying electronic negotiation systems. Eight commercial and academic systems are therefore analyzed applying the MT. The contribution of the analysis is twofold. First, a sample of state-of-the-art negotiation systems is illustrated using a consistent coding scheme. Second, the analysis answers the question whether the MT is comprehensive and selectively distinguishes different types of negotiations.
