Abstract:Although many authors have dealt with the question of organizational trust and its effects on the workforce, only small part of the empirical research has concentrated on the conditions that generate organizational trust. These kinds of conditions are able to assist managers to accept the uncertainties that underlie in some human resource practices. The author examines the trust mechanism and its effect on organizational performance via HRM. Data is gathered from 104 HR managers in Israeli industrial, service and trade industries. The results show that when organizational trust is high the HR managers are more likely to offer training and construct an internal promotion system. Companies also achieve higher performance when the level of trust is high.
