| Abstract: | Workstation graphics, once confined to engineering and scientific uses, are being drawn into big business. As personal computers grow in power and workstations come down in price, users are gaining a range of platforms to choose from. Quantitative estimates of the presentation graphics market's size are discussed. The roles and range of visualization are examined. Several examples of applications are given. Different sorts of end user demands are characterized. Approaches in computer graphics industry, including applications software packages, are reviewed. IS managers and end users face the challenge of learning how to think visually. |
