Abstract:The four main product categories of the chocolate confectionary market are: chocolate blocks /"solid" and "filled" chocolate/, countlines of bars, pralines or small individual chocolates /with or without alcoholic ingredients/, and a variety of miscellaneous products. Key trends are that this market continued to expand in 1989, and the real market value is expected to continue steadily. An overview of the West German market and volume sales 1985-1989 are presented. Sources of supply /domestic production and trade/, the market by sector 1985/1989, per capita sales and purchasing patterns of chocolate confectionary 1989, brand shares in chocolate block market and countline manufacturers' sales 1986/1988 are shown in tables. A forecast is given.
