Abstract:In this paper, unlike prior research on organizational age dependence, which has described entire populations as exhibiting liability of newness, adolescence, or obsolescence, a contingent view is presented by considering the interactive affects of age and technology strategy. There are distinctions drawn btw. views of strategy. Results of study of the firms in the U.S. personal computer industry show that technology strategy had two important influences on aging.
