Abstract: | In 1986, the data processing world was somewhat surprised to learn of the merge between the two hitherto competitors Burroughs and Sperry under the name of Unisys (United Information System) Corporation. Despite the scepticism shown by people who are well acquainted with the data processing scene, the new company was able to establish itself very successfully in the market already in the first year. This is reflected by the turnover figures for 1987. The fact that an international merger is not a "bed of roses" but is also associated with complex problems is shown by Hansjoerg Aschmann, Delegate of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Unisys (Schweiz) AG, in his empirical report. |
