| Abstract: | More than ten years after the start of German monetary, economic and social union, the level of wages in the new Federal Länder is still clearly below that in the former Federal territory. After the initial wage rises, which was rapid and, measured by productivity, excessive, the process of wage adjustment has almost stagnated since the mid-nineties. |
