Abstract: | This paper aims at examining the sharing of tacit knowledge (hereafter as: t-knwl.) among members of the maintenance (here as: mntc.) team and to measure the level of mntc. performance (as: perf.), especially by three mntc. perf. measures: mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and mean waiting time (MWT). Based on a questionnaire survey of the energy sector in both the U.K. and the Arab countries incl. 96 companies in total, 48 from each region to examine the relationship btw. the sharing of t-knwl. and mntc. perf., and to perform a comparison btw. the regions, it is found that the sharing of t-knwl. influences team mntc. perf., which enhances the efficiency of the measures offered. It is concluded that sharing of t-knwl. and transferring it become explicit knowledge, which is stronger in the U.K. than in the Arab countries. |
