Abstract: | Based on a longitudinal case study of Alpha Chemicals, four complexity theory constructs are used to explain the continuous knowledge creation (here as: k-c.) dynamics in Communities of Practice (CoPs). It is shown that the virtual cycle of k-c. results from CoPs oscillating btw. guided and self-directed modes. This study uncovers the value of conceptualizing CoPs as complex adaptive systems with emergent and intentional processes coexisting to create a virtual k-c. cycle etc. |
