Abstract:This study shows the preliminary results of a survey examining Internet marketing applications in the internationalisation of United Kingdom SMEs. Only few UK SMEs utilized the full potential of World Wide Web in international marketing, although there were some good examples of innovative practice. Education and training is required to improve understanding and knowledge in the area and to encourage effective use of the Internet, given that the Internet will have a great impact on the conduct of international trade. Otherwise a further decline in the UK's international competitive position could be expected.
