| Abstract: | The author examines the reasons why there has been such rapid growth in non-monetary transacting in Russia in recent years. The paper traces these innovations primarily to macroeconomic policy and the willingness of government and quasi-fiscal institutions to provide credit to the company sector though non-conventional channels, such as barter. |
