Abstract:The average household spends 0.35% of its total annual spending on magazines. In 1998 consumers spent £1.8bn on magazines against £1.9bn on books and £2.5bn on newspapers. The prospects are good since its clear that new media and technologies produce demand for more titles to cover new developments. The proportion of adults who read magazines is rising. The market value is forecast to rise by 40% between 1999-2003.
