Abstract: | The accident in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986 made large parts of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine radioactively contaminated. Using a Monte Carlo analysis, presented earlier in the same issue, this article explores the usefulness of short rotation coppice (hereafter as: SRC) production in reducing the contamination rates. The results show that SRC production by using local machines was most profitable in medium-scale. In dry and sandy soils large scale SRC production was found not profitable. In the most contaminated areas the SRC production was not possible to use due to exceeding intervention limit. |
