Abstract:The Troxel Manufacturing Company, established in 1899, based in Moscow, Tennessee is the world's largest manufacturer of bicycle seats. Significant changes in this industry and the competition since the last half of the 1970s severely eroded the company's market share. Managers concluded that its decentralized organization was not working satisfactorily. Troxel decided to call in outside consultants to help establish and implement a plan for improvement. The four basic steps of analysis and reorganization is described. As a result of the study a number of changes were made in the organization and management. The centralization implemented could give major chances for increasing effectiveness.
