Abstract:This study assessed the validity of the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) and Cattell's 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) to predict flying training outcome. It also examines differences between self-selected applicants for flying training and the general population, the effect of test conditions on scale scores, selection effects and personality differences and the reliability of personality data. The resuls confirmed that applicants for pilot training are highly self-selected, more emotionally stable and extraverted than the general population.
