Abstract: | The arbitrage pricing theory (APT) by Ross (1976) is either completely ignored in the literature or at least inadequately dealt with. All the same, the number of its supporters seems to be increasing They obviously hope to surmount the shortcomings of certain other valuation theories with the help of the APT. Though since the early 90s significant new insights have been published in the American literature, they have become little known in the German-speaking area. Therefore, the authors have decided to demonstrate the arbitrage pricing theory in an easily understandable way and to give some reasons why it has to be considered as failed. |
