Abstract:The USA have established their own management philosophy. The goal of a US-firm, and therefore of its top management is expected to maximize the wealth of the owners of the company. To put it simply, the objective of the company is to maximize the value of the firm's shares. Share price movements outside of a narrow trading range, three sets of factors relating to the broad context, the industry/sector and the company are dominant. However, market thrive also on rumours, partial rumours and sheer make-believe, so that share prices are always in a state of flux. But, an important distinction is to be made between short-term fluctuations and major discontinuities.
