Abstract:This paper examines strategic consistency (hereafter as: str-cnsty.) in competitive behaviour (here as: cmp-behaviour). Constructed is a logically consistent evolutionary model, providing a causal argument to link a level of str-cnsty. to long-term organizational survival (as: org-srvl). The results show that str-cnsty. seems to be related to both org-srvl. and the most efficient change over time concerning the key elements of a firm's strategy. One of the model's benefits is that some of the components and processes may be manipulated via experimental or simulation interventions which enables the model to be formally tested in future studies, and that it can be used by managers to fine-tune patterns of cmp-behaviour.
