Abstract: | One of the fastest, simplest and least expensive ways to communicate internationally is through the use of electronic mail services. A case study is presented and analyzed. It describes two attempts at implementing electronic mail technology in an international company. The first implementation was fraught with organizational "turfwars" as it led to conflict between different subsidiaries of the company, as well as conflict between different departments - all of whom were trying to control the implementation and the ongoing management of the technology. The second attempt utilized methodologies for managing computer systems development projects and resulted in a successful implementation. |
