Abstract: | Chris Galvin has become the CEO of Motorola, the $28-billion a year manufacturer of cellular phones, semiconductors, pagers, two-way radio systems, MacIntosh clones among other things. Galvin announced that Motorola was creating a division devoted to manufacturing smart cards. In times of trouble the company has always been able to innovate new products. It has pushed new technologies that helped create entirely new businesses. Motorola is a high-tech company with big divisions all over the world but it is not a significant presence in Silicon Valley. |
