| Abstract: | First the authors consider the 17th European Conference on Operational Research, July 2000, Budapest, Hungary, offered a unique opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of EURO. Then the authors state that editorial principle was to proceed from the simpler tasks of continuous optimization towards more sophisticated ones. Then the paper provides a short overview of articles and concepts included in this special issue. In conclusion the authors state that they hope that reader will appreciate this collection of state-of-the-art surveys and research papers which reinforce that continuous optimization research in Europe is well embedded in cutting edge worldwide research. |
