Abstract:The Internet is affecting the existing professions in numerous ways. This paper presents case studies about impostors infilterating the ranks of professionals on the Internet. It explores the origins and evolution of the traditional roles of professions and professionals in today's society. Also, it questions how the standards for professional practice have been adapted to the challenges posed by technology. The article concludes by introducing a study of websites that show recognition of the challenges that the Internet poses to professionalism.
