Abstract: | By 2005, third-party logistics (henceforth as: t-p-lgs.) services users may be spending an average of nearly 1/3 of their total logistics budgets compared to 20 percent today to support 3PL services (by Gooley, 2000). Based on relationship marketing (here as: r-s-m-g.) perspective, this study evaluates the perceived performance of t-p-lgs. arrangements. Especially, examined is the influence of six key r-s-m-g. dimensions on a customer's perceptions of their 3PL provider's performance. Based on research (by e.g. Goldsby and Stank, 2000) focusing on potential linkages btw. logistical performance metrics and managerial activities, linkages btw. r-s-m-g. activities and the perceived performance of the 3PL arrangement are suggested. |
