| Abstract: | Synthetic detergents and soaps are the main products in the industry of articles for washing. By the end of 1994 , there were 99 synthetic detergent-producing enterprises with a production capacity of 2.96 million tons in China. In recent two years, an upsurge of joint ventures and cooperative ventures has been formed. By the end of 1994, there were 13 joint ventures with introduced foreign investment of USD 0.17 billion in this industry. At present, the modes of introducing foreign investment are: to establish sino-foreign funded enterprises which are 1. Chinese side-controlled; 2. foreign side-controlled; 3. foreign side-controlled ones with Chinese enterprises offering a part of facilities; 4. foreign side-controlled ones with another new factory built by both sides. |
