Abstract:The article investigates the use of integrity tests when hiring new employees. Integrity tests are a hiring tool used to discover which of the prospective workers are more likely to engage in dangerous, unproductive, or other risky actions on the job. The candidates are found to be mostly very candid and honest when answering the questions, however, the tests also have control questions to indicate when applicants try to provide false answers when trying to answer "correctly". The tests are an additional cost to the hiring process, but according to the study of a big hotel chain firm, they more than make up for their costs by reducing the amount of potentially expensive workers hired.
