Abstract: | This study examines the relationship btw. organizational commitment (hereafter as: org-cmmt.) and employee perceptions of corporate social responsibility (CSR) within a model drawing on social identity theory. Specifically, the impact of three aspects of socially responsible behaviour on org-cmmt. are explored: employee perceptions of CSR, procedural justice in the organization and the provision of employee training. Based on a sample of more than 4,000 employees from a financial services company, the results emphasize the importance of gender variation suggesting that external CSR is positively related to org-cmmt. and that the contribution of CSR to org-cmmt. is at least as great as job satisfaction. |
