| Abstract: | Research has repeatedly identified a positive link between transformational leadership and effectiveness of work units. This paper aims to study the effects of transformational leadership a little further: to examine its influence on innovative work behavior of employees. In addition, the potential moderating effect of gender in the linkage is investigated. Results from four Australian hospitals indicate a positive relationship between transformational leadership and innovative employee behavior. It is also found that employees with male transformational managers tend to express more innovative work behavior, than employees with female managers. |
