Abstract:The advantages of using a culture survey as part of an organization's change effort are explained. The use of culture surveys in information gathering and communication is examined. Culture survey, used properly, becomes invaluable in guiding change. Used improperly, however, they can be counterproductive. The principles for designing, implementing and analyzing the data resulting from a culture survey are described. A case study is presented highlighting the successful application of these principles in one organization. At AMSCO, using the culture survey process resulted in increased productivity and an improved work environment.
