Abstract:The best comparison of Japanese and USA management has been offered by a longitudinal study conducted by the Japanese Management Association. Its results indicated some rather strong differences, especially when discussing long-term internal corporate influence factors and marketing environmental issues. Replicating this research with a sample of top 500 British corporate CEOs has produced a few interesting findings. In particular, the British and USA respondents seem more similar and more "macro" in their ranking of future marketing environmental concerns than is either group when compared with the Japanese. What this might mean in terms of future competitiveness is open to conjecture, but the unfavourable label on British management is no more valid.
