Abstract: | Central to the problem of advanced manufacturing technology (AMT) is that investment involves uncertainty. An important aspect of uncertainty concerns the quantification of intangible benefits. The term "intangible benefit" is defined and illustrated using examples from the field of design and marketing, production, finance, quality. It is shown how AMT solutions can have an effect on total stock, delivery conditions, total sales. An eight stage process is identified, in which detailed target savings will be constructive parts of the process. The problem of obtaining estimates as an aid to the quantification procedure is examined. A review of literature is presented. An approach to quantification of intangible benefit of robots installation is shown. |
