Abstract:A strategy of careful diversification, in any of its forms, can help prepare a company for an ever more competitive and uncertain business world. Diversification plays an important role not only in the personal investment field but also in corporate strategy. One of the pillars of financial economics and investment theory is that portfolio diversification reduces risk without affecting returns. When a variety of securities are combined into a single investment portfolio, the poor returns to some are offset by superior returns to others, dampening the overall variability of the portfolio's returns.
