Abstract: | Human resource management is becoming more challenging in organizations as potential employees are getting more and more different in terms of socio-demographic qualities and also in terms of their needs and expectations. Glastra (1999) has named four different approaches by which the diversity of the personnel could be managed: (1) the deficit approach, (2) the discriminatory approach, (3) culturalization and (4) individualization. Each viewpoint includes different kind of practices for managing diversity. The writers studied how companies in Belgium are dealing with diversity, and they found out that the practices of the individualization approach are most often used. |
