Abstract:Company acquisition is a method of diversification which limits the risks and enables the synergy effects to be utilized. Many considerations concerning diversification result from the unfavourable assessment of future possibilities in hitherto traditional areas of business and very often lead to hasty considerations; business would be much more simple with new products in new markets. Experience shows that it usually takes many years to realize success in this way when new areas of business are built up from "scratch", quite often there is none at all. These risks associated with the entry into new markets are reduced when one purchases a company that is already active in the market, has achieved success and established a position of trust.
